The Knight is either a class on its own, or an evolution of Fighter. Besides its high strength and low magic, it is characterized by the ability to lower enemy statistics through the use of "breaks" (e.g., mindbreak, powerbreak). Most games have either a Fighter or Knight type (sometimes both) that is used as the primary attacker and equips some of the most powerful armor and weapons in the game.

    OVERVIEW: This is the only "fighter"-type class in the game. It does not evolve from Fighter. They can hold weapons with both hands.

    OVERVIEW: Auron wears an outfit similar to a Samurai. He has some abilities in common with a Paladin. His Overdrive is based on controller button combinations like the Monks Sabin and Zell, and he is also a monk in the storyline.

    Traits of Fighter in Other Games

    FF6: The Gauntlet accessory allows the user to equip a sword with both hands, increasing attack power
    FF8: The GF Cactuar and Brothers teach the Defend ability, in which the user's physical defense is greatly increased for one turn.
    FF9: Steiner, a Magic Knight, can use break attacks.
    FFTA: The Soldier and Warrior have some "break" abilities, but are considered starting classes.
